The Quick Release is a drowning prevention device.

It connects the TQ cuff and leash cord, and if the leash gets caught underwater or you need to rapidly detach from the leash you simply grab the cord and pull.

Note: When inserting the pin through your leash swivel and pedestal on cuff if you get resistance flip the pin over and try to insert again. One side of the pin seems to go in easier than the other.
